Nipea (International Center for Thought in Environmental Epistemology) is honored to present the entire publication of Re-worlding the World: Schelling’s Philosophy of Art (2024), authored by Natale J. Trimarchi, a PhD candidate at Swinburne University of Technology. In this insightful text, Trimarchi delves into Schelling’s perspectives on religion and his cosmological and ontological approach to art. He argues that Schelling’s «dialectical aesthetics,» rooted in «process metaphysics,» marks a substantial advancement over the theories of Kant and Hegel, which have been misappropriated in the modern era. Schelling contends that to counteract the self-destructive tendencies of modern mythology, it is essential to reorient the «final cause» within our narratology, making a clear distinction between the appropriate use of metaphor and the symbolic constructions common in conceptual art.
